(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- As expected, Linn-Mar School District voted to cut 2.5-million dollars, and 50 staff from their 2024-25 budget last night.

Linn-Mar Board President Barry Buchholz tells Iowa's News Now that the District lost 54 students to private schools through the state voucher program this school year. That, and the end of COVID monies contributed to the cuts.

The Cedar Rapids Community School District will be saving taxpayers money next year. The budget they approved last night will see a property tax rate cut of about 66 cents.

CR Schools also lost pandemic funding, but gained 180 students and the state-funding that goes with them.
